The Skin-walker is an evil witch from Navajo legend. They can take the form of any beast they desire but usually an owl, coyote, wolf, crow, or fox—animals associated with death or bad omens.

Nothing good or beneficial comes from a Skin-Walker. Their magic, ceremonies, and actions are only intended for evil. The Skin-Walker is everything a person should not want or choose to be. Skin-Walkers are not restricted by gender; both male and female Skin-Walkers exist. They can not only take the form of an animal but possess any living creature, including humans.

Due to taboos and tradition, Skin-Walker stories and lore are not shared with non-Navajo people.
