Stone Head
Across West Virginia, faces in the rocky landscape can be seen—noses, mouths, and foreheads clear from great distances. These profiles appear lifeless, dormant, believed to only be personifications of the environment. However, these stone heads come to life if their names are spoken; unfortunately, these names are absent from human knowledge, as the faces are created by ancient bigfoot cultures and fae-who name and speak with the formations. In West Virginia, some Stone Heads are made by Leaping Devils and Stonemen using fae magic and rituals that give rock sentience. The faces are human-like, usually with protruding foreheads, flat noses, and jagged teeth. Many of these structures have fallen into ruin and are no longer discernible, whereas others have withered into nonexistence; still, new formations pop up from time to time in the wilderness. At the utterance of its name, the face rumbles to life, pebbles falling from loose ground and stone grinding against stone as eyes, mouth, and brows twitch.
